Privacy Policy
The practice keeps medical records confidential and complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018.
Information is only accessible to authorised practice members. Cliniko computer system ensures confidentiality and has secure audit trails. Information is backed up regularly.
Records will be kept for a minimum of 5 years unless there is a valid reason to retain for a longer period, such as ongoing patient safety or public protection concerns, or legal proceedings.
Information will also be used to ensure that the practice can evaluate the quality of the care we provide in order to help continually improve services.
We comply with data protection legislations and medical confidentiality guidelines of our professional bodies (namely the Nursing and Midwifery Council).
We will share relevant information from your medical record with other health care professionals when they provide you with care. For example, when you are referred to a consultant. We recommend that we share the care given to you with your NHS GP. However we will only do this with your consent and would provide you with copies of all correspondence.
In the event of a complaint or legal proceedings – information may be shared with the Care Quality Commission, The Nursing and Midwifery Council and/or Hiscox Insurance limited.
In the event of a safeguarding concern – information will be shared with the local safeguarding team and possibly the police.
We will maintain best practice for managing information. Should you have any concerns regarding the storage of records or object to information being shared for your own care, in the first instance, please speak directly to Katie or Donna.
